FALLING FOR YOU

I love fall.  Not just like it… LOVE IT.  Who doesn’t?? Well actually, I was reading a blog of an author I’m a fan of and she called fall her "4th favorite season" because she’s such a fan of summer.  To each their own, right?  But personally, fall SPEAKS to me.  Just the other day, I about squealed the tires on my jeep because out of the corner of my eye I spotted “just the right pumpkin” with an amazingly cool stem.  I was ridiculously giddy.  Then today,  after enjoying a cup of hot cider, I was walking the path to my garden kicking up the leaves that had fallen… yes, already.  Is there anything in the world more peaceful than walking through fallen leaves??  Next time you do, clear your mind of everything… but the sound of it.

Sometimes leaves change quickly… sometimes it’s a slower process.  Some years the colors are more vibrant than others.  IF the tree is healthy though, we can be assured that the leaves WILL change color… and they WILL fall.  It’s part of the change of seasons.  It’s part of the tree’s growth.

As people, we go through various seasons of life.   Some of those seasons require change, which can be difficult.  But it can be beautiful as well.   It can be part of the process of our growth as individuals… as God’s children.  Sometimes the changes are subtle.  Sometimes they’re very obvious.  But if we aren’t in a state of change and growth… what’s the alternative??    Live our lives as dead wood??  Hhhmm…. I’d prefer to be the glorious maple in my front yard.

Take time this fall to walk through some fallen leaves.  Kick a few up… and make it a walk with God.  ASK Him to reveal to you the beautiful changes He has in store for you.  Open your heart to them.  If He can change the color of a simple leaf and make it breathtakingly beautiful… how much more could He do with our lives??  He has come to offer you LIFE.  And a healthy life will inevitably include change.

"HE gives and takes away... my heart will choose to say... blessed be Your name"
(Matt Redman, "Blessed Be Your Name")
